Squamous cell carcinoma of the lateral cheek. This lesion is ulcerated. Unlike basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinomas have a significant risk of metastatic spread. Lesions larger than 1-2 cm in diameter are at higher risk for metastasis. This is also more likely when the lesion is located on the lip or ear. This squamous cell carcinoma was treated by Mohs surgery.
