Recurrent Basal Cell Carcinoma

Photos: Basal cell carcinoma very rarely metastasizes. However, with standard surgical treatment, approximately 10% of BCCs recur at the site of previous treatment (although this figure is higher in certain facial sites). Clinically, the tip-off to diagnosis of a recurrence is a new pink area or papule (bump) in an old surgical scar resulting from previous treatment.
