Dr. Melton is a subspecialist in dermatologic surgery with a focus on treating skin cancers, including Mohs surgery. Dr. Melton
founded and directed the Mohs Surgery Unit at Loyola University of Chicago, as well as the new Mohs Surgery Unit in the new Outpatient Clinic at UIC, the University of Illinois at Chicago.
A native of the Chicago area,
Dr. Melton received his M.D. from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. His internship was in General Surgery in the V.A. Medical Sytem. Dr. Melton then did his dermatology residency training at the University of Michigan, and Fellowship training in Dermatologic and Mohs Surgery at Indiana University under C. William Hanke, M.D. Since that time, Dr. Melton has been full or part-time medical school faculty, as well as being active in his private practice in Oak Brook. Dr. Melton has treated thousands of skin cancer patients referred by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and other specialists throughout northern Illinois and northern Indiana.
